Much like the popular Kelim rugs, the Soumak is crafted in the flat woven style. It is embroidered, with the embroidered threads hanging loose on the back. As a result the Soumak has a shaggy, erratic collection of strands of wool. These immaculate designs feature a geometric pattern bearing many tribal motifs. Because of their durable construction, the Soumak is better suited to high traffic areas than most Persian rugs. This handsome rug features a brown background with accents of rust and tan.
